About BuildSpain
Built for the Brits crossing the Channel — and the builders they can actually trust.
British property buyers in Spain have a quiet problem: finding a reliable, English-speaking builder is genuinely hard. Online forums are full of stories — quotes that triple, projects that drag, builders who vanish. BuildSpain exists to make that the exception, not the norm.
Why we exist
Reform in Spain shouldn't require luck.
Post-Brexit, the British community in Spain is still growing — but the support infrastructure isn't. Most local builders work fine for Spanish-speaking neighbours and break down completely when a British owner walks in expecting written quotes, line items, fixed timelines and end-of-project handover packs.
We don't replace your contractor. We do the unglamorous bit before you sign anything: check the paperwork is real, check the references hold up, check the English is good enough to write a quote you can actually compare. Then we connect you.
Every builder on BuildSpain has been individually vetted — they are not bought-in directory listings, they are not bidding for placement, they are not paying us to appear higher. They're here because we've checked them.
How vetting works
Three checks before a builder gets a public profile.
01
Business is real
Valid Spanish CIF (business tax ID) or self-employed registration, registered for at least three years, no insolvency markers.
02
References check out
At least three completed projects with British or English-speaking clients. We contact two of them ourselves before approval.
03
English is fluent
Written quotes in English with line items. We test this directly during the application call — no machine-translated copy passes.
Where we're going
More regions, more verified builders, fewer horror stories.
We launched on the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca because that's where the British community is biggest. We're onboarding builders in Mallorca, Valencia, Murcia and Almería next, then the Canary Islands. If you're a builder in any of these regions, we want to talk.
